Week
9: Teacher of history (longterm)
South London
This is a
mixed beacon school in south London teaching ages
11-19. It is located in an improving
borough, but its own results are already excellent. The diverse mix of its intake
adds to the atmosphere of the school and indeed to
the pride they take in their achievements.
This is a specialist school in technology, maths
and computing.
The school is seeking
a very good,
experienced history teacher for the whole of
summer term.
This is to teach at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

8:
Teacher of PSHE/French/DT (or any two of these)
South London
This is a
mixed school at ages 11-16 in deep south London.
This school is below average in terms of
attainment, and it has a clear aim to improve.
Facilities are good and management is considered
strong. On the behaviour front, you need to
keep your wits about you to make sure children do
not stray too far out of line.
No-one at the school
is under the illusion that this is a
normally-specified post. However the fact is
that they have a need to cover parts of the PSHE,
French and DT curriculum areas, and together this
adds up to a full position. On the DT side,
CAD/CAM would be perfect but any DT
discipline will be considered. As this
combination of subjects is, to say the least,
hopeful, two out of three will be considered.
If you have all three, you are probably a unique
candidate and should apply at once!
This position is for
an imminent start and would run at least until the end of
summer 2007.

7:
Supply cover of maths (Summer 2007)
South London
This is a very
good girls' school at 11-18.
Results in this school are consistently good and
pupils are highly motivated. The maths
department is energetic and high-achieving, and
looking for someone who will contribute quickly
and effectively to the team. This is for an
Easter start, to last at least half a term and
possibly longer. You will need to be
UK-trained with good experience. You do not
need to teach to AL although if you can do so,
this could be taken into account.

Week 6 - Head of MFL
South London
This is a compact girls' school in south London at 11-16. The school
is a specialist languages school covering French,
Spanish and German. Additional languages
such as Japanese and Latin have also been offered.
Across the board it would be fair to say that
there is scope for improvement, both with regard to
pupil behaviour and in academic terms. The school needs a
new Head of Modern Foreign Languages for September. With
languages seen as central to the school's ethos,
and links made wherever possible into other
subjects and activities, a candidate with drive
and determination would be able to get a lot done
here.

Week 4 - Teacher of
DT (resistant materials)
South London
This is a very good south London school at 11-18
in an improving borough.
Even though it has been recognised for a long time
as an excellent school, the last few years have
seen a further step up in terms of attainment.
The school now needs a well-qualified and
experienced teacher of Resistant Materials for a
maternity cover starting in June 2007 and probably
finishing in February 2008. The school is
well equipped and there is a congenial working
environment led by an effective management team.

Week 3 - Teacher of
maths/English (ideally with SEN)
North London - hourly tutoring
This is an ongoing
position at a private tutoring school in north
London. The school caters for small numbers
of younger children who may need a boost to bring
out their full capability. It operates after
school hours on an hourly sessional basis.
The school needs a tutor to work with small groups
on Monday afternoons (4.30pm) and Saturday
mornings (10am) initially, but with the likelihood
of additional hours in the near future. Having
been running for the last year, they have now
found the need to cover SEN issues, and SEN experience
will be a plus to supplement KS2 teaching of maths and
English.

Week 2 - Teacher of PE (female)
Hertfordshire - supply/permanent
This is a
full-time position at an 11-18 mixed school in
south Herts. The chosen person might be
appointed on supply initially but the post is
potentially permanent. Despite the school
being mixed, this position is necessarily
designated for a female PE teacher.
Attainment here is in line with the county's
generally good standards and behaviour is usually
not a problem. The school is voluntary-aided
and has a warm and friendly ethos.

Week
1: Teacher of maths
South London - one term
This is a
position to cover a maternity absence at an
independent junior school in south
London. You will be teaching maths to Y5-Y8.
These are highly motivated youngsters whose
attainment is generally at least a year ahead of
normal standards. However you need to bear
in mind that they are relatively young and must be
treated accordingly. Facilities, behaviour
and school ethos are outstanding and certainly
this would be a very enjoyable term's work as well
as an interesting addition to any teacher's CV.
QTS is not essential - it is your maths and
interpersonal skills which matter.
