Stanley technical on the ball with Renaissance! |
| Our friends at Stanley Technical High School in Croydon took 25 boys to Holland for 4 days over Easter! Fielding two teams, the boys did training sessions and each team played a match against a local Dutch side Koninklijke. This is one of the oldest sides in the country having been formed in 1875. |
| The British side won one game 3-2 and lost the other 2-1, so honours finished even. |
| Whilst there the teams visited Amsterdam and did a canal tour of the city. They had a guided tour of the Ajax stadium and visited Arnhem (Croydon's twinned town) and visited the war graves at Oosterbeek. All the boys thoroughly enjoyed the tour and behaved in an exemplary way which brought credit to themselves and the school. The sports department, led by Mr Steve Box, is hoping to forge further links with the Dutch club that showed such great hospitality. |
| The football kit, sponsored by Renaissance, was admired on all sides, and will once again be put to good use in October when the school embarks on a football and rugby tour to Spain. |
